Vivax-Metrotech VM-585 Pipe & Cable Locator
The Vivax-Metrotech VM-585 locator is ideal for locating & pinpointing pipe, cable and buried ferrous objects in a variety of situations. The ferrous metal detector mode features manual gain control allowing you to work close to large metal objects while you pinpoint buried objects beneath asphalt, concrete, grass and even snow.
The IP54 rated weather resistant VM-585 has achieved a compact and lightweight design without compromising strength or performance. The VM-585 receiver's carbon fiber tube is also NEMA 4 waterproof for locating in flooded areas.
With a choice of passive power locating and active 512Hz, 8kHz or 83kHz frequencies, the VM-585 will meet the requirements of those wishing to detect the presence of active power cables and to trace short ranges. It is particularly useful in helping to detect and trace short distance drop wires.
The VM-585 transmitter can supply a very useful 1-watt signal power. Signal application can be either direct connection or, if there is no access point, induction. The VM-585FF transmitter features an additional 8kHz Fault-find to detect the presence of ground to sheath faults when used with the VM-510 Stand Alone A-Frame Fault Locator.
